I was out for several days with the flu, which can free and then clarify the mind (not to mention the body). Being away from the project for a couple of days did give me a perspective as to the importance of reporting. Earlier, I had not anticipated being very excited about the new reporting features. After returning to work and getting back into testing the new reporting features, I gained a new excitement about them. They are important and will be a valuable asset for our users. It is pretty interesting to organize our site's data in new ways.
Our lead developer also had a difficult week. The graphing technology initially challenged him in that it was not presenting the data as desired. I think it is also sometimes difficult to create any new feature out of thin air, not knowing for sure that all the needs are. Taking a stab in the dark is a little awkward. But, he has done well with creating a base for the functionality, which we have honed together to make an almost finished product now.
So, at the end of the week, I'm feeling much more encouraged than at the beginning of the week. I'm back at work and we have a reporting module that is taking shape and is going to be a grand addition to our feature set.
